Sixties Design

Continuing my Sixties theme. I left school in 1959 at the age of 16 so the 60s were my first spell of freedom. There were so many things going on that it would take a long book or several to cover them all. Here I'm just presenting a few borrowed  images to show one aspect of the novelty of the 60s: the visual, manifested in design.

Not everything was brightly coloured. There was a minimalist trend exemplified by this Braun collection. Bang and Olufsen also comes to mind. The design though is very 60s.



Couldn't resist this one. Clippings from fashion magazines were another popular wall decoration.

The Barcelona Chair. Designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1929 remained an iconic image of the 60s, as did the Eames chair from 1956, below:
